NY State Senate defeats Gay Marriage Bill - thoughts on that...

The NY State Senate defeated this bill today. The only thing that comes to mind right now is Pink's song, "So What"...which I'm off to listen too right now.

And to Ruben Diaz Sr., who said, “Not only the evangelicals, not only the Jews, not only the Muslims, not only the Catholics, but also the people oppose it,” I say, even IF you are correct about this today, Mr. Diaz Sr., you will be proved wrong-minded and shown as the bigot that you are by the test of history.  If you are not ashamed of yourself today, your grandsons and granddaughters someday will be - most of all the one - eventually - that is gay or lesbian by the will of none other than your God who creates each of us in his/her image.

It will eventually become clear that your opposition of progress and the advancement of civil rights for a minority community is in opposition rather than congruent with both religious teachings (starting with Jesus, who taught us to love our neighbors and help the downtrodden and meek and persecuted) and legal traditions in the United States, which historically protect the few from the tyranny of the many.
